Common College- and Career-ready Standards (State Cards)
In the spring of 2009, the Common Core State Standards Initiative was launched with forty-eight states, the District of Columbia, and two territories coming together under the auspices of the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers to develop a common core of state K–12 English language arts and mathematics standards. The standards will be college and career ready; internationally benchmarked; consistent for all students; focused, clear, and coherent; and based on the collaborative work of states and districts along with leading subject matter experts, K–12 teachers, postsecondary faculty, and others.
Complete to compete: Common college completion metrics
This paper aims to equip states with a set of common college completion metrics that can be used to monitor
system performance and inform future policy decisions. Comparable higher education outcome and progress data are
necessary to meet the guiding priorities of increased graduates, decreased minority and low-income attainment gaps, and improved performance using existing resources.
Data Quality Campaign
The Data Quality Campaign is a national, collaborative effort to encourage and support state policymakers to improve the collection, availability and use of high-quality education data and to implement state longitudinal data systems to improve student achievement. The campaign aims to provide tools and resources that will assist state development of quality longitudinal data systems, while providing a national forum for reducing duplication of effort and promoting greater coordination and consensus among the organizations focusing on improving data quality, access and use.
Education Commission of the States: High School Exit Exam Policy Database
This database examines state policies (and the rationale behind those policies) surrounding exit exams, which students in 26 states are required (or will be required) to pass as a component of high school graduation requirements.
Education Commission of the States: High School Special Populations in Assessment Database
This database examines state practices (and the rationale behind those practices) in several areas related to the inclusion of English language learners and students with disabilities in statewide high school assessments and exit exams.
Education Commission of the States: States and Territories
This clickable 50-state map provides links to multistate reports and 50-state databases on education and policy related issues. Databases include lists of government and education-related state personnel for each state, links to education-related state publications and policy reports, information about P-16/P-20 councils in each state, and newly enacted state educational policies by calendar year.

The High School Policy Center provides an online database of policies related to Advanced Placement, college-ready standards, graduation rate goals, graduation requirements, high school/college alignment, assessment, and state data systems.

Response to Intervention (RTI) State Database
The State Database provides resources on a number of topics related to response to intervention (RTI). The resources, which range from policy documents and briefs to trainings and tools, were developed by states, districts, or territories, in the U.S. who are in different stages of implementing Response to Intervention.
State Policy Issues Database Online
The State Policy Issues Database Online (SPIDO) inventories state policies related to accelerated learning, articulation/alignment, data systems, early outreach, equity, remediation, residency, retention, financial aid, teacher quality, and tuition and fees. Users may search the site by state or topic.
