Pathways Network joins with National College Access Network to expand the National College Access Program Directory
The Pathways to College Network and the National College Access Network recently announced the launch of the National College Access Program Directory, a searchable and dynamic online database of college access programs that serve students across the U.S.
Originally published online in 2004 as the National Outreach Program Database by the Pathways to College Network, the National College Access Program Directory is based on the College Board’s 2001 Outreach Program Handbook, a print publication developed in partnership with TERI (The Education Resources Institute), and the Council for Opportunity in Education.
The Directory is designed to give students, parents, counselors, and outreach professionals an easy way to locate and access basic information about programs within specific geographic areas. Programs can be searched by region, state, or zip code, as well as by program name, target student population, and type of services offered. Programs interested in being listed in the Directory can enter their information by completing an online survey. The Directory can also be used by researchers, policymakers, and community leaders to map the national landscape of college access providers and services, find gaps, and identify areas for potential collaboration.
College access programs are defined as programs that help students prepare for or gain access to postsecondary opportunities, such as Talent Search, Upward Bound, and GEAR UP programs, community-based programs, summer-bridge programs, and programs with local schools that provide tutoring or enrichment courses.
