The tools are presented as a set of options from which toolbox users can chose those that best meet organizational needs and support the change process. The tools can be used in any sequence and in any combination. The Taking Action section under Lessons Learned presents one set of ideas for using the tools in sequence to accomplish specific goals.
As a set, the tools help organizations:
- Awareness Tools - Raise awareness and create a sense of urgency about preparing all students for college.
- Policy Tools - Support policymakers in the effort to introduce and adopt public policies to advance college preparation, enrollment, and completion for underserved students.
- Assessment Tools - Develop profiles of the level at which research-based strategies are currently used in your schools and programs.
- Planning Tools - Involve leaders at all levels in establishing policies, programs, and practices that facilitate student transitions toward postsecondary success.
- Implementation Tools - Find more detailed information on best practices and approaches to implementation.
- Evaluation Tools - Evaluate effectiveness to inform future efforts.
