Building a College Resource Inventory

Relationship to framework

Schools and outreach programs have a responsibility to provide college information to students and their families. This is a key component/strategy for academic support.

Purpose

To provide information that can be used to assess and design college resource libraries that are used by schools or college outreach programs.

Outcomes

School or college outreach program personnel will be able to:

  • Evaluate present resources.
  • Plan for expansion of present resources.
  • Advocate for resources.
  • Coordinate resources between different groups.

How to use

This tool may be used as general background information for all staff, specifically planning groups.

Directions:

Use this survey as a needs assessment tool to design college resource libraries or identify the college awareness assets and deficits of the constituents your school serves. The questions can be modified to fit individual program needs.
