Organizational Self-Assessment

Relationship to framework

The framework for action proposes that there are five sets of interactive strategies that increase the capacity of schools and outreach programs to ensure that all students are prepared for college. This self-assessment provides a summary list of those strategies under each of the five framework components and asks users to assess the present level of use.

Purpose

To provide practitioners an overview of what is already in place.

Outcomes

The organization, school, or outreach program will:

  • Identify present level of use for strategies that effectively prepare all students for college.
  • Sort strengths and needs.
  • Identify possible starting points for action planning.

How to use

The tool can be used individually by leaders to assess the present use of strategies. It can also be used by planning groups or school staffs as an assessment and discussion tool. Parts of the assessment can be used independently of each other.

When to use

  • Beginning of the discussion and planning
  • Periodically to measure progress
