Assessment Tools

Assessing policies, programs, and practices is critical to determining institutional effectiveness. The Assessment Tools are designed to help organizations develop profiles of the level at which research-based strategies are presently used.

The following tools are included in this section:

  • Organizational Self-Assessment - A self-assessment of each component of the PCN Action Framework:
    • High Expectations
    • Data Use
    • Academic Rigor and Support
    • Social Support
    • P-16 Alignment
  • Academic Rigor and Support Self-Assessment - A self-assessment that compares what is important to the school with what is presently in place.
  • Indicators of Social Support - Helps practitioners identify what social support needs to be in place for all students to success in a rigorous academic curriculum.
  • Assessing Student Planning - Assesses what is in place to help students plan for postsecondary options.

Assessment Resources

Graduation Counts: A report of the National Governors Association task force on state high school graduation data - Recommendations about how states can develop a comparable, high-quality graduation measure, as well as complementary indicators of student progress and outcomes and data systems capable of collecting, analyzing, and reporting the data that states need.
