Making a Difference - Taking Action

Create Awareness

  1. Hold an orientation session. Think about who needs to be involved in a discussion about increasing postsecondary preparation for all students. The list could include central office administrators, counselors, teachers, and outreach program staff.
  2. Make sure everyone has access to and understands the Framework. Overviews of the five components may be distributed as handouts.
  3. Other tools that are available to support conversations about postsecondary preparation for underserved students are:
    • Talking Points
    • Issue Information
    • The College Track video documentary
    • Assessing my Role
  4. Mobilize a team to take next steps. The case study about the community effort in the Hamilton County schools is a helpful starting point.
